The Stakeholder Score is a best practice guide and an evaluation tool that can be used by corporate social responsibility practitioners to guide their stakeholder engagement and CSR reporting. Companies are evaluated based on how they manage their engagement programs, what stakeholder engagement methods they use, and how they report on their engagement activities and on their sustainability/CSR programs in general. The Stakeholder Score can also be used by any stakeholder who wants to evaluate a company's engagement program.
The Stakeholder Score is available for free public use and can be downloaded here.
We also publish reports benchmarking the stakeholder engagement practices of various industry sectors. Click here to download our report on the pharmaceutical sector.
The first version of the Stakeholder Score was created in 2004 by The Environment Council, a London-based nonprofit organization that specializes in stakeholder engagement, both in the public and private sectors. It was first used for ACCA's UK Awards for Sustainability Reporting and was then integrated into The Environment Council's Corporate Partners Programme. In 2008, the Score was further developed and made available for free public use, in association with the University of Cambridge. It is now managed independently and is a freely available resource for stakeholders and for engagement practitioners.
